Lenwood V. Long Sr. is the Senior Pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church. Pastor Long remains active in the local Triangle Area community. He has extensive national, state and local experiences in both the governmental and non-profit sectors. His active civic involvements include serving as the Chairman and Founder of Restoration Community Development Corporation, appointment by Governor Easley to the North Carolina Veteran Affairs Commission, appointment to the Wake County Department of Human Service Regional Network Committee and the North East Advisory Board, and serving on the statewide board of the North Carolina Community Development Corporation Association.
Prior involvement includes serving on the board of the North Carolina Institute for Minority Economic Development. Special recognition includes being selected by the Wake-Wendell Branch of the NAACP as Pastor of the Year for work in the community (2005).
Pastor Long is a graduate of St. Augustine’s College with a Bachelors of Science in Sociology and also a graduate of Georgia State University with a Masters of Science in Urban Administration. He attended Shaw University Divinity School and has attended numerous theological educational forums and seminars. Pastor Long is married to Barbara H. Long. They have three children and several grandchildren.
Notwithstanding civic involvement, Pastor Long is also noted for his ministry of help and outreach in the community. His guiding ministry focus centers on Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
