COMMUNITY PROGRAM OUTREACH SPECIALIST

 

The Community Program Outreach Specialist supports the mission and vision of Restoration CDC, Inc.  This position recruits, empowers and sustains leaders in low-income communities.  The position serves as a liaison between internal programs, neighborhood leadership and community partners.  Work involves responsibility for case management, including assessment, planning, advocacy and follow-up, networking with community agencies and developing outreach contacts and support of clients.  Work also involves participating in task forces, staff meetings, community groups and advisory committees.  This position requires maintaining confidentiality and discretion as a rule.

 

Description of Duties

 

1.         Provides customer service to the general public. This includes assisting the public in filling out forms and applications and responding to

            routine requests for information.

 

2.         Maintain statistical data concerning cases and processing activities.

 

3.         Assists in the training of volunteers.

 

4.         Performs support responsibilities, including composing correspondence, typing memoranda, reports and other documents, maintaining an

            appointment calendar and arranging meetings.

 

5.         Provides outreach resource referrals and other services to families.

 

6.         Provides individual mentoring and follow up services to program participants and their families.

 

7.         Consults and maintains outcome data for programs and client files and provides report data as needed.

 

8.         Assists with program revision to reflect emerging community issues

 

9.         Plans and coordinates outreach and organizing meetings in order to build an effective, ongoing organization and to maintain the involvement

            of community leaders. 

 

10.       Develops organizing materials including talking points, marketing collaterals, flyers, fact sheets, etc.

 

11.       Identifies and builds collaborations with key community partners.

 

12.       Provide coordination of training sessions, workshops, forums, meetings on community issues.

  

13.       Reports directly to the President/CEO

 

14.       Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

 

Excellent organizational skills (oral and written) and ability to excel at details, multitasking and working under pressure

 

Demonstrated experience in leadership development programs, including curricula development, training and tracking systems

 

Excellent meeting planning and facilitation skills

 

Detail oriented, self-motivated, and organized

 

Ability to work with diverse people, communities, and cultures, with the understanding of culturally competent practices professionally and cheerfully even under pressure

 

Demonstrated ability to motivate clients to take action

 

Must have experience and skills in the use of software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor degree from four year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, one equivalent combination of education and experience
